I'am now relying on Alan who once pointed out that issuing

    apt-get update
    apt-get dist-upgrade

will do the trick.

Maybe http://www.spack.org/index.cgi/AptHelp will help you a bit.

Hmm, what do you mean with a new Apus kernel? As the kernel has to be on the
AmigaOS side anyway to boot into your Debian system, I always download it from
the Apus site on sourceforge directly. But there should be kernel package
.deb's, right (Michel, Alan)?
