As I mentioned in another post, I imagine the low latency patch and/or
the O(1) scheduler patch, etc. might help for the internal serial
interface. I have a PPC for the former at
http://penguinppc.org/~daenzer/patches/11_sched-O1-K3-ppc.diff, the
latter is arch independent and only missing a hook in
arch/ppc/config.in.
