Hi , I am in the process of updating my working debian 2.2r3 (originally from CD's) installation with Xfree-4. (Is it worth the effort?) I have used an apt-get install xserver -Xfree86 command and been told I need to download 31mb of stuff and 57mb will subsequently be removed from my installation. Things like abiword, gnome files etc are to be removed. Does this sound correct. I don't want to go ahead and find I need to start again. I pay for my online time per minute so I would like an alternative method if possible, is there one. (downloading seems alot slower that using my miggy, any way of speeding this up) apt-get upgrade and apt-get dist-upgrade both take ages, is there an easier way of upgrading to an up todate setup? Any help would be great. Yours faithfully Regards, Dave (PPC+BVision) ( jo...@co... ) Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else. |
