Hi Glenn [ snip ] >>> I hope someone can help me, I don't want to use fbdev, cause is awfully >>> slow! >>> But I also doesn't want to get a fsck every time I start into linux! > >> It's the so called SuSE dilemma ;) > > You have got it working with a different distribution ? > I have the same problem using Debian. (woody). Oh, I did not know that! No, atm I do not have any working installation, since I had too less time to do a proper install (I got stuck somewhere in the woody install, but by my own fault). I thought this weird behaviour would have only affected one or two versions of XFree86 4.x, and unluckily the one which made it into SuSE PPC 7.1 (like gmc, or do you like gnome sessions crashing right from the start..). I assumed Debian wouldn't have this problem because of the steady updating. And at the time, no one else than me reported this problem btw. > I thought it was a CyberstormPPC + CVisionPPC problem. > If only I knew what :-) Well, so it seems to be a more besetting problem. But it seems as it would only affect A4000 users. I don't know anything about the XFree86 drivers, someone more knowledged has to jump into the breach. But, if updating to XFree86 4.2.x doesn't help, downgrading certainly would.. -- All the best, Andi |
