Mounted ffs partition

Hi,
I seem unable to access my ffs amiga partition from within Linux.
I have previously successfully updated my XF86Config using this method (ie copying from an Amiga partition) but now seem unable to access any extra files on my amiga ffs partition. I have placed some files ready to copy across and deleted some unwanted stuff, when I access the partition through linux I am still seeing the files that used to be there and not what is currently available. How do I get linux to rescan the partition to update the files that are now present. The uncanny thing is that I can load in a file and edit it even though it isn't really there according to my amiga partition?
I can't fathom this out, any help would be great.
