Hi Rene > I'm using SuSE7.1/KDE on my A4000PPC/CVPPC.Almost every time I end an > X-Session, SuSE doesn't switch back to console but shows a wild colored > screen (like a rainbow) and the whole system stops (hangs up or so, not > even any more heartbeat). Soemtimes even normal switching from X to a console (while X is still running) with Alt-Fx brings up this effect. Though I mostly still had heartbeat. I then guessed it could maybe be possible to login remotly and do a normal shutdown, but did not try that. But if even heartbeat fails, tough! > I tried using different kernels (2.4.4, 2.4.9) and drivers (glint, fbdev). I think it was me who has already reported this erratic behaviour of XFree4.x. I couldn't find a solution neither. Also tried different kernels. The only thing would maybe be an update of the XFree86 Server. http://www.suse.de/de/support/download/xfree86/index.html I did not try that, but it may be a good idea. I've got no more SuSE on my haddrive atm, I am sorry. > I hope someone can help me, I don't want to use fbdev, cause is awfully > slow! > But I also doesn't want to get a fsck every time I start into linux! It's the so called SuSE dilemma ;) I wish you good luck!! -- Kind regards, Andi |
