Oh yes, but why do it the simple way when it can be done complicated? ;) >> Is it not possible to use a kernel which supports my x-surf? > > Maybe, although the boot-floppies are said to be tied to the kernel they > were built for. Yep, that's what I have been reading recently somewhere on this list (has it been from you btw?), but I wanted to know if there isn't even the smallest chance. Concerning this topic, please look at my answer to the posting by Pieter! >> I also tried to boot with a 2.4.6 kernel (which supports x-surf), but >> bootstrap just complained aobut the ELF header (n.b. this kernel worked >> toghether with this bootstrap two weeks ago). But it did get recognised at least under 2.4.6 (I feel to remember having seen such kind of output on startup, but I am not 100% sure). >> Well, if don't have a chance to install this way, should I go back to woody >> and install using the basedebs on a mounted affs partition? Once I've read that there wouldn't be any official basedebs for woody, so I didn't try to search for them! How things are changing! PS: Please cf the posting by Pieter. PPS: I meant "related to x-surf" and not "connected to.." in the subject.. And of course "increasing the stack" and not "raising the stack"... -- Thank you very much for your answers, I wish you all the best, Andi |
