I have the same problem but dont get any debug info written to mem, so dmesg
fails to find anything.

My boot line is as follows:

cd os2linux:2.4.17-apus/boot/
bootstrap --apus -k vmlinuz-2.4.17-apus root=/dev/hda2
video=pm2fb:mode:1024x768-70 noscsi 60nsram console=tty0 debug=mem

dmesg shows the following:
