The DHCP client should automatically be run on ifup. Do you have one
installed? If yes, try another one, not all of them seem to work
everywhere. (It looks as if you have dhcpcd, but that's deprecated. I'm
using pump, and then there's also dhcp-client).

Are there any DHCP related messages in the syslog?
