I knew only that on self conpiled kernels above 2.4.18 to 2.4.23 dmasound crashed kernel on my APUS box. I haven't tried the 2.6.x kernel yet, but I don't use APUS box anymore (I've bought PegasosII). If I have some free time I will try to do some checks on different kernel configuration.
