I second that. I switched from ReiserFS to XFS on this PowerBook a while
ago (the curious can read up the reasons in the debian-powerpc archives)
and was rewarded by a significant increase in performance. I'm using the
snapshot patches from ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/download/patches/.


The reason I mentioned ext3 specifically is that it will be included in
the official kernel soon and that moving from ext2 to ext3 is trivial.
