The significant difference being I have more or less learned my way around
part of the latter. Plus the Linux kernel doesn't use a friggin' new data
type for every other function or variable that I need to look up
separately :-)

I could do that - once I've talked to Geert about what would be required
on the kernel side to support a new fbdev ioctl. I'd be surprised to hear
anything besides 'it's the kernels fault' or 'send a patch' though.
