And if, the problem should=20= kick in not right from the start, it needs some time heat up I guess. Are you sure the contacts of the powerpc board to the motherboard are=20 ok, i.e. the card is sitting *really* good?? Most problems I had were=20 always caused by bad contacts of the ppc board! Some pushing did the=20 trick. > Here's what dmesg says: > > Searching for SAVEKMSG magic... > Found 879 bytes at 0x001e0010 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > Memory BAT mapping: BAT2=3D64Mb, BAT3=3D32Mb, residual: 31Mb > Total memory =3D 127MB; using 512kB for hash table (at c0300000) > Linux version 2.4.18-apus (root@tibook) (gcc version 2.95.4 20011002=20= > (Debian prerelease)) #1 Wed Sep > 4 23:01:36 UTC 2002 > Amiga hardware found: [A4000] VIDEO BLITTER AUDIO FLOPPY A4000_IDE=20 > KEYBOARD MOUSE SERIAL PARALLEL > A3000_CLK CHIP_RAM PAULA LISA ALICE_PAL ZORRO3 > On node 0 totalpages: 32640 > zone(0): 32640 pages. > zone(1): 0 pages. > zone(2): 0 pages. > Kernel command line: root=3D/dev/hda10 video=3Dpm2fb:mode:1024x768-70=20= > video=3Damifb:off 60nsram -d > debug=3Dmem Hmm, does your memory really do 60ns? And btw. just out of interest,=20 what is the video=3Damifb:off for? > APUS: BATs=3D1, BUS=3D67MHz, RAM=3D60ns, PCI bridge=3D1 > time_init: decrementer frequency =3D 16.503453 MHz > Console: colour dummy device 80x25 > last_ipl[2] already set to 2f, now 2d! > 9706: -6 6 -6 6 -6 6 -6 6 -6 6 -6 6 -6 6 -6 2 > last_ipl[2] already set to 2f, now 2d! > 42451: -6 6 -6 6 -6 6 -6 6 -6 6 -6 6 -6 6 -6 2 > <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Since it stops after the famous ide debug output, might it be something=20= about the ide stuff? Try to go back to 2.4.17 maybe, this kernel always=20= worked flawlessly with my A4000! > Is there anyone here who has a clue on what's going on? > Btw. Well, as I've alredy said, I doubt it has something to do with the fan,=20= But a new fan is always a good thing, since the original doesn't seem=20 to be really a quality one. > Bj=F6rn Johansson "Debian rocks!!"
