Olivetti printer refuses to work with Debian :(

Hi!

I'm using a precompiled APUS kernel 2.4.18, which I have downloaded
from the APUS homepage. Is there printer support in the kernel?
I have an Olivetti JP 150WS together with a standard HP Deskjet
driver. When I've selected a HP driver within OpenOffice and trying
to print out a testpage, I get no connection to the printer.
It works perfectly with AmigaOS3.1, but I just can't get it to work
under Debian3.0. Do anyone here know how I can fix this?
I'm a total newbie when it comes to printers together with Linux :(.
