XWindow speed... hard drive speed..

Hello,

I installed XWindow system (glint driver) on my Debian Woody (2.4.13
kernel) and I'm quite dissapointed with the speed of WWW Browsers (Galeon
and Mozilla). Basically they work much SLOWER than Voyager or AWEB on Amiga
side!! Is it normal?? Can any speedup be achieved? 
Another thing is hard drive speed. Since plain A1200 IDE controller is slow
and CPU hungry how much faster in practice a SCSI drive is?? Theoreticly
SCSI is few times faster and consumes very little of CPU time. Any
comments?
