I think this would be more appropriate for a Debian list like
debian-user, but anyway: The pine license doesn't allow Debian to
redistribute binaries. You need to get the source and build it yourself,
google for 'Debian pine'.

Could be RAM I guess, but AFAIR older 2.4 APUS kernels used to be rather
unstable.
