Hello APUS users! Well, I finally decided to migrate to Debian after having a lot of trouble with LinuxPPC (updating the installation and packages was a mess with manual installation of RPM packages...). I got the first 3 CDs of the Debian 3.0 PPC distro and I'm trying toget it running. I'm not noew to APUS so I managed to install the basic installation but after installing the machine freezes when I try to boot from the installed partition... so the question is: Has anyone running Debian 3.0 on an A1200/PPC with the latestAPUS kernel? (2.4.18-2). Thanks! Daniel |

(2.4.18-2). It's a common problem. Please try the 2.4.20 kernel and let us know if it makes a difference. --=20 Earthling Michel D=E4nzer (MrCooper)/ Debian GNU/Linux (powerpc) developer XFree86 and DRI project member / CS student, Free Software enthusiast |

I also want to say that I still have trouble booting the 2.4.18-2 kernel sometimes, but this get fixed when I do a hard reset(using MCP), not always= though. I suspect that AmigaOS has some bad information in memory which has= been kept resident by different programs. -- Bj=F6rn Johansson "Debian rocks!!" |

D'oh, I always forget limiting lha to lh6. Sorry about that, fixed now. > I also want to say that I still have trouble booting the 2.4.18-2 kernel > sometimes, but this get fixed when I do a hard reset(using MCP), not alwa= ys > though. And after trying to boot the kernel for approximately 20 times in a row, I feel a little pessimistic if I'm ever going to get this kernel booting on my system, but I will keep trying... -- Bj=F6rn Johansson "Debian rocks!!" |
