Hello, I've been installing Debian linux using as my sources Potato and Testing. I've installed XFree86 v4.1 and am unable to launch a working X diplay. I have tried both the config files available from the linux-apus site on sourceforge but both give the same problem, namely a black screen that I am unable to kill the session for. Control alt delete has no effect, and there don't appear to be any error messages. Any suggestions gratefully received. Oh, and I am using the PPC distribution with a BVision graphics card. -- Regards, Stephen Webber st...@co... ste...@or... ste...@bl... "The older I grow, the less important the comma becomes. Which kernel do You use? selfmade? or precompiled one?
Here is Device section of XF86Config i was using when i had BVision:
Section "Device"
Identifier "BVision"
Driver "glint"
BusID "PCI:0:1:0"
VideoRam 8192
Option "UseFBDev"
Option "ShadowFB" "Off"
Option "NoInt10"
EndSection
NoInt10 option might be what You are after.. (after rebooting You might
check /var/log/XFree86*log )
and btw IIRC Ctrl Alt Del never had any effect on Amiga... To kill X You
can use Ctrl Alt Backspace.

I've submitted a patch to that effect, which will hopefully be included for 4.2.0. > > (after rebooting You might check /var/log/XFree86*log ) As you still seem to have problems, it would be interesting to see a log. If you can't access the box remotely, remount the filesystem containing /var synchronously to capture as much information as possible. --=20 Earthling Michel D=E4nzer (MrCooper)/ Debian GNU/Linux (powerpc) developer XFree86 and DRI project member / CS student, Free Software enthusiast |

hi, I noted your DRI membership Michel...and wonder if APUS kernel will see DRI XFree for PermediaII and DRM in the kernel? alan |

When somebody implements it. ;) My impression is that people tend to underestimate the complexity of the task though. --=20 Earthling Michel D=E4nzer (MrCooper)/ Debian GNU/Linux (powerpc) developer XFree86 and DRI project member / CS student, Free Software enthusiast |
