#linux-apus moves on to IRCnet

  Hi!
 First of all sorry for posting to both lists but i would like to get as much
audience as i can.

 Today me and Frank Petzold (aka Rastan on IRC) decided to move #linux-apus
from EFnet to much bigger IRC net called IRCnet:

Locations: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Rep., Denmark,
Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland,
Italy, Japan, Latvia, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia,

Max users: >68,000

 According to irchelp.org IRCnet is the biggest IRC network out there.
List of IRC servers is available at http://irc.tu-ilmenau.de/all_servers/
I think it's to big to attach it.

 #linux-apus (or actually people that will eventually gather there) is trying
to offer help in installing and using linux-apus. 

 If possible it could be real nice if some info about this support channel
and how to get there would be included on linux-apus.sourceforge.net

problem with LinuxAPUS > 2.4.9 ??

hi,

I havent had much time to look at this...but after compiling the latest
2.4.13 CVS when i booted the image , the boot process stopped totally
when it got to finding hda/hdb/hdc/hdd.  This was working in 2.4.9 so i
wonder whats gone AWOL ?

 Any chances You've compiled in devfs ? I think i had similar results when
i did that (i added devfs=off so it will not be started while booting)

well, I'm now running the 2.4.14 CVS and still having the same problem....
Below are the outputs of bootmesg and dmesg. Same result with own config
and the 'standard' APUS config (ie the one i used to generate the 2.4.9
kernel available from download site)

I can give you .configs for modular and monolithic kernels that work with
CVS 2.4.14.

Any use to you ?

yes please - if anything i'll see exactly where things are going
wrong....could it be my 2.95.4 GCC ??

That's what I use for the Debian APUS kernel packages, have you tried
those yet?

Are you sure you had the problem with 2.4.13? Such a problem existed after
the 2.4.14 update, but it should be fixed now.

I should note that my compile was 3 days ago....I'll cvs update (properly!
;-) ) tonight and have another try

PS I'm sure that i have no devfs selected in options - i saw that earlier
discussion ;-) - my usual rule is, if i dont need it, its not compiled in
