Why do we see the log message in the `Modified files' section instead of the
`Log message' section these days?`

How could you put it in the wrong place? I rather suspect your client - w=
hat
version of cvs do you have? I have 1.10.8 .

Do you commit with the log message on the command line or use an editor
($CVSEDITOR) ?

Usually command line, but AFAIR the editor has worked the same for me.

But with the editor I can put a log message in the modified files
section - the wrong place.
