Bug #112230, was updated on 2000-Aug-18 07:45 Here is a current snapshot of the bug. Project: Linux/APUS Kernel Category: Kernel Status: Open Resolution: None Bug Group: None Priority: 5 Summary: parport_amiga cannot get IRQ in 2.4. Details: When I Try "modprobe parport_amiga" (after "modprobe parport") I get "device or resource busy." Investigation yielded that getting the CIA IRQ fails. For detailed info, follow this link: http://sourceforge.net/bugs/?func=detailbug&bug_id=112230&group_id=5907 |

I tried to use lp yesterday under 2.4.0-test5. modprobe parport_amiga yields a "device or resource busy". I inserted some kmsgs and found out that it could not allocate the interrupt. Is anyone able to use the parallel port? Otherwise, I will file a bug report. -- Frank Petzold, IBM Zurich Research Laboratory, Säumerstrasse 4, CH-8803 Rüschlikon/Switzerland, Tel. +41-1-724-84-42 Fax. +41-1-724-89-56 Business email: fp...@zu... Just a silly idea, but do you (still) have a working Linux/m68k environment too? Perhaps a test using the m68k may give some results. That way you know in what general area you have to look (PPC weirdness in case it works under m68k or CyberStorm weirdness in case m68k fails as well) Bye, Arno. -- PSINetworks Europe Fax: +31-23-5699841 | One disk to rule them all, Siriusdreef 34 Tel: +31-23-5699840 | One disk to bind them, 2132WT Hoofddorp+--------------------------------+ One disk to hold the files The Netherlands | * Musical Interlude * | And in the darkness grind 'em ----------------+--------------------------------+------------------------------ We say Retribution, We say Vengeance is bliss, We say Revolution, With a Cast-Iron fist! This patch makes the Zorro bus subsystem even more like the PCI bus subsystem by including the Zorro name database in the kernel. Of course this is optional, I don't want you all to waste 15 kB of init memory on this ;-) Changes: - Addition of zorro.ids (copied from zorroutils). - Addition of gen-devlist.c, to convert zorro.ids into a C header file that can be included by names.c. If a name is very long and won't fit, the description in square brackets is stripped off. - zorro_namedevice() now does something (depending on CONFIG_ZORRO_NAMES). - Increase name size in struct zorro_dev to accommodate long manufacturer and/or product names. - Move the Zorro ID #define's from <linux/zorro.h> to <linux/zorro_ids.h>. - Remove all occurrencies of `strcpy(z->name, "<board name>"' from the Zorro device drivers. - Allow to compile a kernel without Zorro support. - Update the documentation in Configure.help and zorro.txt. Lot's of stuff is copied from the PCI bus subsystem code. Since I'm unable to test this (except for a simple compile test) at the moment, I'd appreciate some feedback. Please send me the output of `cat /proc/iomem' and `lszorro -vv' if you have lots of Zorro devices. BTW, even if you all decide to send this patch to the shredder, Configure.help must be updated for 2.4.0 anyway because it's no longer correct. I released zorroutils 0.03. Changes: - Move Zorro database from /etc/zorro.ids to /usr/share/zorro.ids - Always use the included zorro.h, which is a stripped version of <linux/zorro.h> - Enclose board descriptions by square brackets (more about this in my next mail) - Update copyright message and email address Impatient people can get it using anonymous CVS from cvs.linux-m68k.org, and soon from http://home.tvd.be/cr26864/Linux/zorroutils/. Folks, please always remember to chgrp linux-apus and make group-writable the files in the FTP and HTTP areas (Roman: hint, hint :) so the others can handle them as well. If you tend to forget it (like me), do a newgrp linux-apus before editing messing around there and you should be set.
