drivers/video/aty is the new driver for ATI Mach64. The ATI RAGE128 driver is
still in drivers/video/aty128fb.*.
Perhaps Roman forgot to add the directory (and its contents)?

Hello everybody! Sorry for questioning a probably FAQ again (but I did not read mails within these lists for a long time): Is there already support for Fastlane or UWSCSI (or is there development on these things), cause the GVP I bought last year for using CDROM and ZIP drive within APUS is too slow (it has GuruRom 4.15, I couldn't get version 6, and I won't buy it for DM 100,-, cause I bought the GVP used for only DM 50,- with 8MB RAM). hi, I'm releasing a 2.4.9 kernel to the linux-apus site in a few moments. there were some issues when compiling so i'll raise them here.. firstly a problem with gfxcard. for some reason, 'make dep' insisted on looking for the 'aty' (i recall) directory in drivers/video. i commented out the field for that directory in the makefile (represents the ati128 card) and things were okay secondly, SCSI drive 53x770.c is broken nastily...calling older zorro routines that no longer work. therefore I've had to not enable this in the kernel. BUT this is a SCSI controller for the CyberStorm MkIII. heres where I have a question: What SCSI drivers do we NEED under LinuxAPUS? I see no point in enabling SCSI controllers that attach onto a CPU-slot card - as under APUS the only CPU card available to the host is the CyberstormPPC/BlizzardPPC which have their own (well, you know what i mean) SCSI drivers. alan |

Hi Tested kernel 2.4.9 on my CSPPC this weekend, and my first impression w= as very good! It feels smooth! I also found out about the serial port trouble with wvdial and my modem= . It is obviously not a direct kernel bug, I simply had to rerun the wvdial mod= em autodetection. After saving the new config it worked without problems! Albeit it's a bit strange that the modem can not be accessed with the s= ame parameters as under kernel 2.4.4. But there still seems to be some confusion about console switching. Onc= e I switched from the X11 console (now running under glint :)) ) while = loading netscape, the buttons size of the desktop got doubled or so, and the co= lors went nuts. Well, this seems to be normal behaviour when switching from = the X11 console, this picture flashes up everytime for a short moment until= the new console shows up. But this time the pixel trash stayed, and ne= tscape stopped loading. I could not switch consoles anymore, neither di= d the computer accept any keyboard input. Though there was still heartbeat. Powering off released my Miggy. An other time I switched to root console did some emacs or yast stuff, = switched back, and X11 immediately got killed. Though restarting it was= n't a problem. Thank you for the good job you all did on the kernel!! The strange "flo= ating point kernel panic" behaviour seems to have gone. -- Best regards, Andi = |

Yes, lp_intern and lp_m68k predate the generic parport subsystem.

That's very reasonable. I was thinking along the line of you telling me "the new version should be ready for packaging" or "this fix or new feature might justify new packages". That would make my life as maintainer much easier. :) This is all based on my assumption that you are always able to judge such things anyway. -- Earthling Michel Dänzer (MrCooper) \ Debian GNU/Linux (powerpc) developer CS student, Free Software enthusiast \ XFree86 and DRI project member |

This appears to be the case in 2.2: when config_m68k_printer is set, printing works fine (the code in lp_m68k.c and lp_intern.c is used). If you instead of setting config_m68k_printer=y, set config_printer=y and config_parport_amiga (or whatever it's named) = y, it will use the code in lp.c, which in turn uses parport_amiga.c functions to send data to the printer. This is the same as in 2.4, and does not work properly... - glenn |

No, printing is broken on APUS. (If this hasn't changed recently)... On my system printing in 2.4 works quite well when DEBUG is enabled in parport_amiga.c, but others have tried that without so much luck. Actually the generic printer driver don't work in 2.2 either. (just remembered this...). As you may remember when compiling a 2.2 kernel you need to enable CONFIG_M68K_PRINTER, but not the parport or config_printer... It looks like the 2.2 printing code (lp_intern.c and lp_m68k.c) completely bypasses the amiga parport driver (parport_amiga.c). I tried adding these files to my 2.4 tree, but didn't get it working. I had to change a couple of lines to make it compile, and maybe that broke something, or there is something else I forgot about. It prints the first 2 characters, and then goes busy... - glenn |
