i compiled 2.4.0 sources with apne and system stop when kernel look for pcmcia ethernet card. i think that system is still alive, but wait for something. i can send via e-mail dmesg and .config
I have the same problem with 2.4.2 (the one which can be
downloaded from here). I have to remove my PCMCIA ethernet
to be able to boot up.
Both 2.2.10 and 2.4.1 crashes for me when trying to boot
from them after install. So the only time I can use my
ethernet card is when I'm install LinuxPPC with 2.2.10

I've downloaded 2.4.20-1 kernel and test ramdisk and tried to
run it on my A1200 with BlizzardPPC 240 mHz. System starts
finds my NE2000 card (works perfectly with Genesis 1.06 and
latest cnet.device), and than illegal address access occurs
and kernel panics.
I did not try to remove my card, i performed my tests at
evening and was too tired to disassemble my machine.

do you get the same result when you use 2.4.4 (use CVS to
upgrade your sources)

Does this problem still occur in recent 2.4.x release?

I never got the chance to test as I had to move the
harddrive to another computer, so I have given up APUS and
NetBSD PPC for a while.
