Hi! Yesterday I compiled my own 2.2.1 Kernel because I wanted to have a 4bpp Framebuffer, and modules support. (Some notes on compiling a kernel:) I used Jan Kybics kernel configuration (as found in the "Linux on Psion Series 5"-HOWTO. The author moved his homepage, so the current URL for this Document would be http://cmp.felk.cvut.cz/~kybic/psionS5/ But he has forgotten to update the Link to his kernel configuration, which now is: http://cmp.felk.cvut.cz/~kybic/psionS5/jkconfig8 This file proves to be a good starting point, because everything is set up to give you a working kernel. I configured some networking stuff, inkluding NFS-support (yeah, I know, but I think it's quite a nice way to connect to another machine to load some data to the Psion). Disabling netwinder options doesn't seem to be a good thing, my make Image stopped twice due to unknown functions or symbols. (My current problem) So far, my kernel works really fine, I checked with my initrd. Even mke2fs doesn't crash anymore, I was able to reformat my CF without any problem. But the display looks funny somehow, because the text on the screen appears to be underlined. Switching to a new, unused console gives an entire screen of lines, which are removed by a simple "clear". The patch I used for the framebuffer was the latest I could find: cb26-ky4 Is this a known issue, or have I done something wrong when configuring the kernel? Is there a boot parameter to set up the Series 5 framebuffer correctly? Kind regards, Christian |
