This might be a small improvement, but helpfull though:

If a user creates a new person, there is always the possibility that the persons already exists (but the user will not look it up, because he can't remember to added it over an year ago...). There could be a field next to the user-add entry data, which shows the persons which are already added to the database. When typing the last name, the list could get smaller showing only the names fitting the letters already written. This field/list can be greyed out, so the user sees, that no changes can be done and it is only for information.

(This is similar to the functionality when adding persons to a new record; maybe some code could be used for that.)

Double-entries could be reduced by this feature.

    Interesting thought. I'll losely schedule this feature
    for the next release, though it raises the question if
    you were really able to add a person twice (or more often)
    to the database. If that were the case, I'd have to file
    it as a bug, unless there were slight spelling differences
    (e.g. Müller vs. Mueller).
