I've seen that behavior for ages now. I did ask on the list about it and the best I could figure out is that there is some kind of demon that keeps changing it when you are not looking. When I asked about it before, there was absolutely no rational explanation. I even tried taking the write priviledge off of the file. Didn't work. What I didn't bother trying (because licq stopped working under the 2k protocol at about that time) was to make the file owned by someone else, readable by me but not writable by me...
