[Libvisual-devel] Not working

Hi,
I have managed to build and (I think) install the libvisual-xmms plugins.
However, even with these installed, visual_init is still returning -1.

I am giving up until somebody can help me with this. Where should the 
plugins be (I configured with --prefix=/usr/local) ?
Why am I still getting a -1 back ?
