I know you'll not follow this path, but it's easier anyway:

cd $LIBVISUAL/po
cp libvisual-xmms.pot <LANG>.po

kbabel <LANG>.po # This part you will not like, Dennis... :)

If you use the best editor in the world, emacs, it have a PO-mode also and 
will help you out.

If you want to do it in other editor, just fill the msgstr line... but take 
care to not damage the format.
