Always the code! :) The documentation is horribly out of date in the 1.0 development tree, so please ignore it for now. I've been trying to keep the header file up-to-date with respect to the rest of the implementation, so it should be safe to believe it. Currently, everything is developed to the first draft of the new API. There has been some work on changes, but nothing is drastic. Also, while some stuff might be marked as 'D', it mostly means the initial implementation is done. There are some situations where the existing implementation may not work correctly (like in a threaded application, which I haven't tested much yet) or not as intended (like the 16KB limit on requests right now).
