Thank you Peter/Tim for your input which we have taken to heart, and to
that end, I am now in the process of implementing larger asynchronous
write/read operations...(and trying to keep the MAC/microframes filled).

@Peter - it is the Xilinx XPS USB 2.0 MAC (and integrated firmware
running on an embedded MicroBlaze).
