Basically it should be possible to control these LPT-USB adapters with libusb(-win32). All you need is a datasheet of the chip that's used by the adapter and a specification of its high level protocol. The problem is that all of these devices use different kind of controller chips which are most likely not compatible. Supporting all of them by=20 your application will be hard if not impossible. If I where you I would design a custum USB-to-DIO converter. This will save you (and your customers) a lot of pain. Have a look at the FTDI web site (http://ftdichip.com/), especially=20 at their FT245 product. This might be what you need.
