I would also try looking in the registry for keys that may be left behind. I am not sure how Add/Remove programs works, but it may use its own settings file or registry entry to keep track of what has been installed. You could also install a virtual machine like VMWare, and install the application. Do a system snapshot before and after the install, and figure out what files were modified. The file usbdriver_license provided me with your contact information and I decided to address you with my problem and hopefully you can help me. Thanks. > > I am in great need of your help. I bought HD Cinema USB to HDMI Converter made by Grandtec. I installed the software that came with it but for some reason it did not install properly. When I tried to remove it, in order to re-install it, using the "Ad/Remove Programs" application it said that the program cannot be removed because it was used by another program. I rebooted my computer and tryed again but I got the same message. Then, I tryed to run an installation on top of the current program, thinking that it may fix the problems, but when I executed the "Setup" file I got a message that the software does not need to be updated at this moment. With that in mind I tried to remove the program manually. I ran a search on my hard drive searching for the any files that that have "DisplayLin" in their file name. The search program found them and I deleted them. Now, when I try to re-install the program, I get this message "A more recent version of DisplayLink Core Software is already installed on this computer." When I press the "Ok" button I get another message "Failed to install DisplayLink Core. Installation of HD Cinema adapter cannot continue." and than the installation closes. > > Please let me know how to fix this problem. Maybe, how to find and delete the file that is supplying the version information from the previous installation to the current installation. I am running Windows XP SP 2. The "version" file stays this: Product="HD Cinema Display Adapter" Version=4.5.14042.0. > > Yours truly, > > > Boris Avramski > > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > This SF.net email is sponsored by: > SourcForge Community > SourceForge wants to tell your story. > http://p.sf.net/sfu/sf-spreadtheword > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > > _______________________________________________ > Libusb-win32-devel mailing list > Lib...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/libusb-win32-devel > |
