As far as I know, Berkeley DB has not been ported to MSDOS and Win32 platforms yet. Would the reliance on Berkeley DB affects the portability of libtabe? Maybe we need more libtabe-native functions for handling the lexicon. Among the alternatives, one of which I have been thinking about is a banlanced binary tree. I am not good at implementing balanced binary trees, but glib (in gtk+) does provide functions for using balanced binary trees. Glib is smaller and more portable. It can be bulild on Win32 with VC++, and on DOS with djgpp (patch required).
