I got a new cell phone and it has Android 6.0.1. That is a couple steps up from what I had. I know when they did an Android update to I think 4 that it sort of changed the way SD cards worked. I never really understood other than there was a directory called SD card that really wasn't a card and that I was really after ext SD or meybe it was emulated. There were a few apps that got thrown off by it. I remember there was an app that patched things. I don't recall that I was ever able not to view the contents of the SD card if I attached a USB cable though. I hae linux mint (17.3 on my computer).

I've seen some instructions and they say to install libmtp and simple-libmtp or something like that and they either can't be found or don't work.

It sounds like maybe this device simply has to be added to the list of libmtp, assuming it works at all anymore since the changes to Android.

I've tried some wireless file transfer apps, but, none of them seem very straightforward to me, That may have to do that it seems like the idea is to configere the external SD card as an extension of the internal storage. I did manage to fill up my all my memory while trying to transfer some music files from a non full 64 GBcard to a 128GB card.

If all it takes is adding a MOTO G Plus, please do it. If not and anyone can help me understand how file transfers are done now between linux or from phone to phone, please let me know.

Thanks
