I have gnomad2 2.8.8 setup with libnjb 2.2.5 and libmtp
0.0.15, and I recieve the following error when
transfering certain files, here is an example of trying
to transfer Flaming from "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn":

LIBMTP_Send_Track_From_File_Descriptor: error setting
metadata for new track
PTP: I/O error
LIBMTP_Delete_Object(): could not delete object
Error sending file "/tmp/fileYNcttY/04. Flaming.mp3" to
MTP device!

This file will fail every single time I try to put it
on my Vision:M, others include I Will from "The Beatles
(white album)" and others I can't think of at midnight,
anyhow, this is anoying me very much, after it crashes
like this, I am not able to do anything else with the
mp3 player. All of my mp3's are ripped with sound
juicer with lame and a bitrate of 192 kbps. The tags
are added/updated with programs using mutagen normally.

I have submitted this to gnomad2 also.

Hm it's a problem with setting metadata only, not the
files themselves. Can you make a troublesome file
available to me or send in mail to triad@df.lth.se?

I've fixed this in 0.0.17 now I hope...

I shall add that a similar problem occurs on my sister's Creative
Zen Micro Photo 4GB. She uses Amarok's functions in order to
transfer tracks. There is no discerning problem with the tracks,
no one thing which links all of the tracks which cause errors
together as far as I can tell. I will post output from Amarok once
I actually get a chance to get on her computer and test it out.

Okay wait, just turned out i've been running 0.0.16! Sucks to me.
Sorry for wasting your time. I'll post again if it keeps happening!

Okay it turns out that the problem is stil occurring. My sister's
got a Creative Zen Micro Photo 4GB, running libmtp 0.0.17 and
using Amarok 1.4.3 to transfer. I'll paste up errors later, and
send you one of the failing files as soon as I can.

Well, the described amarok problem I believe is a fault with amarok itself, and I'll tell you what it is.
Amarok doesn't transfer two files of the same name even if they're in different folders.
When I use mtp-sendtr to send the files that amarok won't transfer, it works fine, I even made a script to help me that retrieves the id3 tags, etc.

I haven't tried 0.1.0 yet, I'll give an update in a little bit.

Amarok does not still have the proper functionality with 0.1.0, but of course, mtp-sendtr works fine on the same files. Someone file a bug report for amarok.

OK, I've poked the Amarok guy to look at this.
    Closing as fixed in libmtp.

snirkel, did you submit a bug report, or what, this still hasn't been fixed with the latest amarok svn...

I mailed Andy Kelk who maintains the Amarok libmtp engine
but please file a bug report too if you're considered.
