Hi Tim,

I haven't found the cause of your crash, but

MeshTools::Generation::build_cube(mesh,4,4,4,HEX8);

is almost certainly not the mesh you are expecting it to be.
It will go from 1 to 10 in the x-direction, since "HEX8" is
treated as the number "10" and xmin is assigned this value.
