Hi everybody, I would like to use infinite elements to simulate an open boundary on the outer sides of an cubic-like domain (except for the top side which has a von Neuman boundary condition). I already implemented a class that lets me add the infinite elements where I need them and could run my first calculations. However, I would like to understand what I am doing. Am I right that the infinite elements are implemented as "mapped infinite elements". Why is the petrov-galerkin scheme used to assemble the matrix? Is there an article which describes the kind of infinite elements used in libmesh? For visualising my results I implemented an vtk IO class. I read in example 6 that I have to use "FEInterface::compute_data()" to get physically reasonable solution values for the infinite elements, but I dont really understand how to implement this in my vtk IO class.
