#1 configure: C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check

Hi,
I just installed Ubuntu Linux distro: previously I was running Red Hat 9 distro, and had installed this driver for my Canon scanner, and had used it for several years -- MANY THANKS!!!

I checked the forum: but didn't see this problem.

configure fails with--->
configure: error: C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check

"which cpp" gives--->
/usr/bin/cpp

When I checked for cpp, I got--->
cpp --version
cpp (GCC) 4.1.2 20060928 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.1-13ubuntu5)

config.log is attached.

1. What can I do now?

Hi,
I have found that the correct libieee1284 has already been installed in Ubuntu....
The original source of the problem has not been found, but it doesn't matter so much anymore.
