Hello, gentle maintainer. This is a message from the Translation Project robot. A revised PO file for textual domain 'libexif' has been submitted by the Spanish team of translators. The file is available at: http://translationproject.org/latest/libexif/es.po (We can arrange things so that in the future such files are automatically e-mailed to you when they arrive. Ask at the address below if you want this.) All other PO files for your package are available in: http://translationproject.org/latest/libexif/ Please consider including all of these in your next release, whether official or a pretest. Whenever you have a new distribution with a new version number ready, containing a newer POT file, please send the URL of that distribution tarball to the address below. The tarball may be just a pretest or a snapshot, it does not even have to compile. It is just used by the translators when they need some extra translation context. The following HTML page has been updated: http://translationproject.org/domain/libexif.html If any question arises, please contact the translation coordinator. Thank you for all your work, The Translation Project robot, in the name of your translation coordinator. <coo...@tr...> |

It could be that this particular file contains no ancillary data, but others could. I'd rather put in special code to handle such MakerNotes specially without some assurance that there aren't now, or could be in the future, some files with more data in such tags. >>> Dan |

These tags are not allowed to exist in IFD 0, only the EXIF IFD. That means that technically, the file is corrupt. > However this particular JPG contains private data. How can I remove > the jpg file, and only share the exif data ? You can do that easily enough using libexif, but the exif command-line tool doesn't expose that functionality. You can of course just run "exif file.jpg" and "exif --show-mnote file.jpg" to display the EXIF tags in text format, but if you want the raw EXIF data without writing any code to get it, you'll have to use another program. >>> Dan |

Just FYI, MakerNote for Milestone Medical is pretty easy: $ wget http://gipedia.org/gupedia/images/f/f7/Paprccnew.jpg $ exif -d Paprccnew.jpg [...] ExifData: Loading entry 0x927c ('MakerNote')... ExifData: MakerNote found (4d 61 63 72 6f 50 41...). This is simply an ASCII string with content "MacroPATH 4.0.10" 2cts -M |

I've submitted these changes, with the exception of the icons (due to copyright and format questions) and the intltoolize changes, which aren't strictly necessary and add another depedency. Thanks for the updates! >>> Dan |

Hello, gentle maintainer. This is a message from the Translation Project robot. A revised PO file for textual domain 'exif' has been submitted by the Brazilian Portuguese team of translators. The file is available at: http://translationproject.org/latest/exif/pt_BR.po (We can arrange things so that in the future such files are automatically e-mailed to you when they arrive. Ask at the address below if you want this.) All other PO files for your package are available in: http://translationproject.org/latest/exif/ Please consider including all of these in your next release, whether official or a pretest. Whenever you have a new distribution with a new version number ready, containing a newer POT file, please send the URL of that distribution tarball to the address below. The tarball may be just a pretest or a snapshot, it does not even have to compile. It is just used by the translators when they need some extra translation context. The following HTML page has been updated: http://translationproject.org/domain/exif.html If any question arises, please contact the translation coordinator. Thank you for all your work, The Translation Project robot, in the name of your translation coordinator. <coo...@tr...> |

Well, not sure how to send the patch as I've not only made code changes but also added icons (binary files). Here is the full tarball: http://sourceforge.net/projects/vmonseur.u/files/gexif/gexif-0.6.tar.gz Please, let me know how I should sent information if the tarball isn't workable. > And a note to everybody lurking, the language files for libexif-gtk and > gexif aren't very extensive. They only have de, es, fr, & pl > translations, Remark related to gexif: as the translated strings are very small and very standard (things like open, save, exit, etc...), I've extracted the translation from other free software for de, es, pl, sv (fr is my natural language). gexif changes: Starting point is cvs snapshot. * code made compatible for both gtk2 (minimum version: 2.6) and gtk3 * added --with-gtk3 option in configure.ac (default is gtk2) * fixed bug 2014281: gexif doesn't build with latest GTK 2.13.2 * converted source files (.c .h) to utf-8 encoding (fix crashes for invalid encoding) * warning message "No EXIF data found!" replaced by message dialog box * warning message "Implement!" replaced by 'about' dialog box * de, es, fr, pl, sv translations completed * fixed bug 1599611: gexif is not localized (remark: no change of AM_GNU_GETTEXT) * added icons and .desktop file |

Given that gexif is probably the flagship application for libexif-gtk, and you've already done the work, there's no excuse not to! Please, send the patches on. And a note to everybody lurking, the language files for libexif-gtk and gexif aren't very extensive. They only have de, es, fr, & pl translations, plus gexif has sv, and libexif-gtk has an out-of-date ru. If anyone out there can speak another language, please let me know off list and I'll send you the .pot file to translate. There aren't many strings to translation in either of these two packages, so it wouldn't be a big job. >>> Dan |
