I had some problems with the actual libraries for libdnet getting the wrong suffix (libdnet.1 instead of libdnet.so.1, and libdnet instead of libdnet.so). It looks like there's something really wrong with the bundled version of libtool (and/or possibly which automake version was used). after doing libtoolize --force (from GNU libtool 1.5.22), aclocal -I config automake (both from GNU automake 1.9.6) autoconf (from GNU Autoconf 2.59) to regenerate configure and Makefiles, everything worked much better. I got some warnings and so on, that I fixed by applying the changes in the patch below. Full patch (including the regenerated files) omitted, but available on request - it was too big for sourceforge mailing lists. - Arne H.
