Interesting, I didn't know that Debian provides the new stack now.

All of this should work. :-/  (I was wondering whether you had a
FireWire controller from JMicron which can cause trouble similar to what
you mentioned; independent of which kernel stack is at the helm.)

I suppose you should gather some crash info with gdb.  Or/and try
coriander from CVS, though I don't know whether that would make a
difference to Debian's packaged coriander.
