I was trying to find firmware within out packages and I failed in my set
up. There is a firmware.tgz which we are distributing, so installing
firmware appears to be a manual process.
We could include it into the modules squashfs unpacked and then build a
symbolic link from /lib/firmware to it, so it becomes available to the
driver when this squashfs is mounted.
Then it would not be necessary to save it to configdb and we would
always have the latest firmware.
