Is it possible to cmsDoTransform with cmsFLAGS_GAMUTCHECK?

It looks like it's only possible with cmsCreateExtendedTransform and
cmsCreateProofingTransform, which I am not familiar with.

Is it anything like Photoshop Gamut Warning? 

I would like to convert an image such that, with GamutCheck, say, any out of
gamut colors of the Destination would come out with solid color pixels? 
Gray or red or does not matter.

I guess I am dreaming in color ;-)
