Hello Heiko, you may want to try LAME 3.98 beta 6. It contains some changes in its genre handling. The source of the genre problem is the ID3v1 specification. There were only a few genres defined numericaly. Current LAME allows you to write any genre string you like into the ID3v2(!) genre tag (in Latin1 character encoding only, right now; unicode support is on the list and may come later). Ciao Robert ----- Original Message ----- From: <hkl...@we...> To: <lam...@li...> Sent: Thursday, January 03, 2008 12:58 PM Subject: [Lame-dev] Genre not accepted using LAME 3.97 and EAC Guten Tag lame-dev, I use EAC 0.99pb3 (but it happened with 0.95 also) and LAME 3.97 (September 24 2006). When I rip a CD which has (according to Freedb and my own needs) the genre "Hoerbuch", lame refuses to encode, posting an error message for half a second (sth. like "genre unknown"). If I switch the gerne to "Acapella" or sth else - lame does the job; lateron I have to change the genre back to "Hoerbuch" using mp3tag, which is much more of a job to do. I use the following commandlineoptions: -V 1 --vbr-new --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tg "%m" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" %s %d I copied these from some Instruction I got in 2006. Looks all fine to me... Could you please make lame accept ANY genre? -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen Heiko Kleyboldt mailto:hkl...@we... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Besuchen sie unbedingt www.inwo.de oder www.inwo.org um die Wahrheit über Zinsen und unser Wirtschaftssystem zu erfahren! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
