Earl, If you navigate to /var/lib/tomcat5/webapps/validation-0.1-SNAPSHOT/WEB-INF/laika-data.xml, there is an entire section of the XML commented out for setting up the UMLS database setting. You should be able to set the credentials in this file to your settings that you used when creating UMLS. You will then need to restart Tomcat, but this should do the trick.
