Using gcc 4.3.1 with a patch to fix that ext2/3/(4?) kernel oops:

net/netfilter/xt_layer7.c:576: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type
net/netfilter/xt_layer7.c:577: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type

...l7-filter 2.18 compiled into 2.6.25.10 and several previous dot releases.

Ah. This used to happen and was documented in our HOWTO, but then it didn't happen anymore, so I removed the note. Fortunately, it isn't a problem, so I've just added a note back into the HOWTO about it. Thanks for the report.
