Hello !
I have tried kxstitch 0.8 and i find it already quite good to design a stitch pattern from a photo.

I search for a replacement of my old stitching software for my Pfaff 7170 stitching machine. It is a propritary binary format, in which the designs were stored on this machine. It can be connected with a serial cable to the computer or can read special Pfaff memory cards (PCMCIA-cardreader).

Someone has done some work to reverse engineer this fileformat (*.pcs).

It would be very great to have the ability to save into this fileformat, connect to the machine and upload this file onto the internal memory.

here is the information about this format:

It is acually called pcd2, because it is the succesor of the ascii pcd-format:

If someone is really interested to add this fileformat to Kxstitch i can provide samplefiles or can test on the machine.

The embroidery concept doesn't fit well into the design of KXStitch. It would be better suited to a stand alone application. It is possible that the KXStitch UI could be adopted for this, but it would need a different document structure. Unfortunately I don't have the equipment to do any testing if I had the time to develop a replacement application at the moment.
