Thats it,
the new beta release kwhois 1.1.6 is out now.
After all, I'd release also a plugin package.
Please have a look at the kwhois-plugin package.
New plugins will be available for next version kwhois.
The new beta version of kwhois is released.
Version 1.1.5 has several bugfixes and a new plugin interface.
The next version will be a release with some plugins (query of specialized whois servers) and a testplugin, so that other developers can write some plugins too.
In the meantime, the plugin interface can change dramatically, so please don't use the plugin interface of 1.1.5.
So long,

Since version 1.1.3kde (beta) kwhois works with kde3.
I will release kde2 packages later on.
I'm going to support two versions of kwhois, first kde3 and secondly kde2.
Take a look at kwhois-1.1.4kde3. It's the latest beta version of kwhois.
A new feature in work:
plugin support for better display of special whois outputs
working on a kioslave for integration in kdes konqueror
etc.
So, the new kwhois beta release is out.
After rewriting the complete code, and moving away to use an external programm for query whois servers, it's quite stable.
What's missing: documentation and better icons ;)
If anyone want to help me, give me a mail :)

Hi all,
I'd import the new kwhois version into the CVS tree.
if you want to get it use as module name "kwhois2".

Hi Folks,
KWhois is now a native whois client.
KWhois is now responsible for the network traffic between the kwhois client and the whois server.
After rewriting the complete code, I implement a new object data structure, for using own whois handler objects.
After testing a bit around, I think, I will switch to a plugin mechanism, for extending kwhois when it's needed.
ok,
1.0.5-beta wasn't release as version because there were not so much changes to 1.0.4-beta.
Well, 1.0.6-beta has much more to see.
1. All dialogs are re-layouted.
2. the kwhois config file has now a version number
3. kwhois config file has a new layout (but you don't see anything ;))
4. I've changed some functions for the configuration handling
5. I changed the SPEC file for the RPMS to relocation mode. so, if you want to try kwhois with kde3, please do it :) and report us
the latest version of kwhois is now in the cvs.
if you want to have it, please check out the HEAD revision.
I'm not releasing this revision to the public, because it has only one new dialog, and some other light changes.
Well, the next beta release for the public is the 1.0.6beta.
I hope, I've got then the new config file format.
a new beta release is there.
I added support for RIPEs verbose template option.
Another new feature is, to search for internic CNO domainname registrars.
Well, coding is a hard thing.
I need some help for documentation and GUI design. After all, I'll need help for translations.
Well, if anyone has time, give me a mail...

New RIPE features included: inverse queries.
RIPE LIRs know what I'm talking about :)
Added new features "Save Result"
It saves now the result output into a file.
Code Fast, release early
so...here it is...kwhois 1.0.2beta...with a new mainwindow layout. with a new "RIPE Tools" menu, and with the functionality to request ripe database templates.
the next step is: generating those database objects :)

\sh
Today I began to work on new features for
kwhois 1.2.
After releasing kwhois 1.0.1a (latest stable version), I had some ideas for improving kwhois.
Well, for now I can say that kwhois will have support for several RIPE (Rseaux IP Europens) WHOIS database functions like requesting templates, generating RIPE Handles etc.
That's for today :)

After finishing my holidays, I fixed this serious seg fault bug.
sorry for the delay, but dubais sun is better than programming over the day ;)
KWhois was first developped to be a graphical KDE2 Frontend for Nalin Dahyabhai (http://www4.ncsu.edu/~nsdahya1/)
Whois client. This Whois client is shipped with RedHat.
KWhois 1.0.1 now supports the FWhois Client Type.
KWhois 1.0 is finished.

Changed some GUI things (resizing)
Added a help menu and an about dialog.
I released today (after some difficulties with the package management of sourceforge ;)) the version 0.6 of KWhois.
Now you can set the WHOIS binary.
There is also a new menubar, where you can find now the configuration options.
KWhois is a KDE2 Frontend for the RedHat Whois Client (Author Nalin Dahyabhai <nalin@redhat.com>).
Well, it works with any whois-client who understands the "-h" switch for setting the whois-server address.
Use the "Config" Button for adding/modifying/deleting whois-server addresses.
I know there is a bug in the resizing code of the result field. I'm working on it :)
