Just a fyi. I have a Gateway E4600, 2g ram, 1T hd, Radeon X1300/X1550 Series video. It came with Win7, which I didn't want and only use to update a Garmon GPS. Kubuntu 1204 is the main O.S. and I wanted to add Kwheezy, since it performed so well on the shop computer. After installation, it booted and finalized my account and offered to set video card. (big mistake to change it) I chose the closed source driver, and took the suggested driver. No more booting, at all. Somehow I lost the ability to boot from the hard drive. I interrupted a live CD (Kubuntu) to get the grub menu, I chose boot from hard drive, which it did. I logged in as Administrator after the booting stopped at a terminal screen. One great tool saved the day: change-video-driver on the command line. It gave options, I re ran it and chose opensource. It was good. To regain booting without the rescue cd it took "boot-repair" from Kubuntu using the ppa repository yannubuntu/boot-repair.
Don't know how things got so bad from one change in the intial setup in KDE but it was a challenge. It runs fine now. Sourceforge also has that program as a stand alone bootable cd: https://sourceforge.net/projects/boot-repair-cd/files/

I just got a new no boot w/ Kwheezy. It is on VirtualBox running in Kubuntu 1204.( 64 bit) Last thing I remember it updated, I shut down and forgot about it. Now I am worried. Still searching for how it looses grub. The VB message is No bootable medium found! System halted. Very strange.
I'll try and find out more information, and recreate that VB setup.
Currently set up w/ 64 bit version, 1024 mb ram, 100 mb video, 40.95gb virtual drive. (same computer as above but running Kubuntu and VB)
My goal is to switch to KWheezy as the main default, but am worried now.

There's a lto of things could have casueed that. But Kwheezy on baare metal should not have any problems with updates, especialy if you don't mess with the repo's etc.
