Hi. Whilst i enjoy Kwheezy very much, i have an issue with the Application Launcher Menu.
If i (e.g.) move my cursor to Graphics the sub-menu appears ok, but whenever i move my cursor onto the sub-menu and take too long before selecting anything, the whole menu dissapears. The same happens if i go to select one item in the sub-menu but decide to go to a different application, the whole Application Launcher Menu dissapears.
Is there any way to either make the whole thing less sensitive, or even increase the wait-for-selection routine (if there is one).
I primarily use a Roccat Kone[+] mouse, but the same thing happens with other mouse/mice i have tried.

Yep, we are not alone. You can use the default KDE application launcher (Kicker). Or, lancelot is well liked by many. I find the transparency a problem myself. But if you cahnage the desktop theme to Air, it looks OK. I don't like "Air" myself (except the kind you breathe LOL).

That's great that it doesn't bother you. I can assure you, it is still there in v1.4. It just effects some people more than others. If you know what you want from the menu and get there fast, it doesn't happen. But now and again I find myself opening the menu again because it does close on me. It's a strange bug, it's both minor and major at the same time. Doesn't put me off KDE though.
Also, I have found myself using other ways to launch stuff. If you press Alt+F2 and type part of what you're looking for in the Krunner popup (top of screen), it is actually a lot faster. And recently I have added an extra shelf widget to my bottom panel. In this "Shelf" I have added my favourite/most common applications.

Hmmm. I wonder if we are all talking about different things. The original question seemed to be about how long it took before the menu CLOSED. The link seems to go to a discussion about how long it takes menus to OPEN. And is it a constant problem or intermittent? I ask because I just clicked on the "Start Menu" and it opened instantly. Clicked on Graphics and that opened instantly. Left cursor on Graphics and the submenu remained open for more than a minute. Tried again with the cursor IN the submenu and it remained open for more than a minute. It then stayed open while I randomly moved the mouse around the submenu. I am wondering how long the original poster wanted it to stay open? Or how long it remained on their machine?
When you speak of it only bothering some people are you saying the tme is the same for everyone but some like it and some do not, or that the problem appears on some machines/setups but not others? I have a pretty old machine so I am wondering if the timing is tied into something like CPU clock speed rather than GMT?
Anyway I have been using Kwheezy as my main OS for some time now and have been very happy with it.

Well, I don't know about the other posters, but for me the issue is the menu closing when you don't want it to. I suppose the timeout must be the same on all machines. But perhaps different mice have influence here. I can't say for sure but I seem to notice it more on some machines than others. It feels a bit interrmittent in terms of whether it bothers me. I suppose it depends on how long it takes you to browse for the menu item you want. How steady your hand is, and how well you steer the mouse, keeping it within the menu.

@Robert: I must have missed the end of your post the first time round. it's possible it's linked to CPU clock speed but not likely. As a programmer myself, this is the kind of thing you wouldn't do unless you had to, since it might be a lot more work. More likely the timer is just a fixed time. I've never noticed an API that tells you the system clock speed, but then I've never needed to.

That is strange to suddenly develop. Any changes in video driver? Maybe an update effected it. All I can suggest it try the default KDE menu or Lancelot instead of Classic menu.

I know what you mean. It's a KDE classic menu quirk. I have also wondered the same, if there is a timout setting.

FWIW I am NOT having this problem in 1.4.

I am having no trouble with menus closing but it now takes a long time after I click on the bottom left icon before I see a menu.
That is strange to suddenly develop. Any changes in video driver? Maybe an update effected it. All I can suggest it try the default KDE menu or Lancelot instead of Classic menu.
